The Saddlebow Road/Wisbech Road triangle forms a comprehensive area of early 20th-century industrial development with associated housing following the introduction of the Midland and Great Northern Railway and its rail link to the riverside. The panel strongly advised that this area should be considered as a whole of great local significance, and that further research should be carried out on the details of its development and the factors which led to it. Apart from three very significant individual buildings, the area’s value is its industrial archaeological interest and it should be considered as a single entity.
