Tennyson Road

The southern arm of Tennyson Avenue beyond the railway line, linking it with the Goodwins fields development. Apparently an early 1900s development and a date of 1908 has been noted on one house but none appear before 1912 in Kelly’s and only a few then. The spaces between the older houses seem to have been filled in the comparatively late (3rd quarter?) 20th century. Houses here play an important visual role as background to views across The Walks, which means most houses have an important group value. This road is also an important corridor from the southern entry to the town through to Gaywood and makes an important near-initial impression.
